Against All Ødds, Gareden 'Agartha' on Zerothree
Barely a week out of the studio, and 'Agartha', Against All Ødds and Gareden's latest for Zerothree, has been folded into Miss Monique's monthly chart, hers placing it at the twelfth of thirteen positions. It is a record that does its best work in the harmony. The percussion is steady, busy even, and sits loud in the mix; the treble is suppressed, the bass round and full, and the track's few gestures toward a peak are tightly controlled.
In her chart, Miss Monique places 'Agartha' just ahead of last month's pick from Coeus on Spectrum (NL), 'Visualise', at seventh, a record that lives in a similar lane, all tension and slow-burning release. But where that one leans on arpeggiated momentum, 'Agartha' keeps its pulsing restrained and lets the chords do the talking. It's a focused, melodic offering, a perfect fit for Zerothree's sound.
