Not a bang but a brightening. Eric Luttrell returns to Anjunadeep with 'Sunrise Song', his first release for the label since a contribution to The Yearbook 2022, which dropped on 16 December 2022.

That label association began early for Luttrell, who has to date accrued 68 releases since August 2016, the majority of them on Anjunadeep with a further nine on Armada Music Albums and a handful on Anjunabeats and Armada Electronic Elements. The most recent was 'Darling / Waves' on This Never Happened in May.

'Sunrise Song' was released on 23 June as an Extended Mix only, which is perhaps the key to its success. Luttrell's mix is structured like a DJ tool or a chord-based record: the harmony is doing more work than the percussion, the drum part has plenty of air in it, the record is moderate in level and moderately open under its peaks, and the top end is muted. The effect is that 'Sunrise Song' sounds like music for after the club, or for the quiet before the party, but it is engineered with the care of a peak-hour record.

It has already been charted by Lunar Plane at nine in their Summer 2023 chart on 30 June. In Berlin and Lisbon, high summer and its sunrises are happening now.
