Florian Bernz 'Activate' on Mix Studio Recordings

The track that Zero picked first in the 10-strong NEW YEAR MIX 2024 chart (11 Dec), Florian Bernz's 'Activate' has found a new home at the top of a DJ set list entering the season. The track is out now on Mix Studio Recordings, filed as Melodic House & Techno, and it ran on a release from 11 Dec 2023 that has had time to filter through.

The record's weight sits in its drums. There is a lot of incident in them, and the mix is set forward with room under the peaks; the highs sit well in front. At 124 BPM in E flat major (Camelot 5B), it is a record that does its work with a drive that has been turning heads since it first surfaced, and it has now been given a clear sign of where it belongs in the season ahead.

Florian Bernz has been releasing since 1 October 2021, with six releases in that time, mostly for Frequenza (two) and Sunexplosion (two). Before 'Activate' came 'Progressive Horizons: Essentials, Vol. 1' on Sunexplosion (23 June 2023). The NEW YEAR MIX 2024 placement is the latest signal that the record has taken on a life of its own.
