Jawora 'Memories' on Deep Root Underground

Francis Mercier placed 'Memories' 14th of 15 on his Sauti chart on 18 July, a list that also carried Emmanuel Jal and Nitefreak's 'Gorah' in the Francis Mercier Midnight Mix at eighth. Jawora's Extended Mix on Deep Root Underground, filed as Afro House, was released 12 July, arriving in peak season across Ibiza and Mykonos under a full moon.

Its weight sits in the chords, with an even drum figure keeping steady time beneath them. The level runs forward and squeezed beneath the peaks, and a treble that neither glares nor recedes keeps the mix balanced. It is a compact, chord led piece of production, confident in a tighter frame than most of the week's records.

'Memories' is one of two releases from Jawora since 19 April 2024, both on Deep Root Tribe; the most recent before this was 'WELL', also on 19 April. Two records in three months on the same label says something about a producer who has found a comfortable home.
