MASSALA 'Funanya' on Deep Root Tribe

'Funanya' is Deep Root Tribe's eighth release of 2025, on a label that has put out 17 records so far this year. The track, filed as Afro House, arrived on the label in April, and Francis Mercier placed it 12th of 20 in his Baianá (Boa Noite) chart on 5 August, one of six records from Deep Root Tribe in that same chart of 20.

Six of the 20 records in Francis Mercier's chart come from Deep Root Tribe, AVÖ (PT) and Jawora's 'I Don't Know' among them at 14th, which says plainly where Mercier is looking for material this season. A 12th placing in a chart this crowded with one label's own output is not a loud result, but it holds its ground inside a field where the competition, more often than not, comes from the same address.
