Medusa Odyssey, Soberboy 'Ze Del' on Sol Selectas
Medusa Odyssey, Soberboy's first release on Sol Selectas in roughly twenty months, arrived on 27 February. The track, 'Ze Del,' marks the producer's first appearance on the label since Summer Sol IX on 21 June 2024, and it slots into the closing weeks of the Tulum season with an air of quiet command.
'Ze Del' is a study in restraint. A harmony rides under the drums, which are crowded with percussion but never loud. The level sits low, with room under the peaks, and the treble carries a fine, precise edge. It is a track that does not push; it waits, and in waiting, it draws the floor closer.
Sabo, for one, has taken notice. His The Bridge Spring Vibes chart, dated 31 March, places 'Ze Del' at 13th of 21 records, alongside tracks from The Good Men, THEMBA (SA), and Khenya (IBZ) on Armada Music. Notably, nine of the 21 records in the chart are on Sol Selectas, a sign of the label's firm grip on the season's sound.
Sol Selectas, last covered on 14 November with GEØVHÄN's 'Tabla,' continues to anchor the organic house underground, and 'Ze Del' is another quiet landmark in that lineage.

Sol Selectas, Bandcamp about text · sourceSol Selectas welcomes Soberboy to the family, in collaboration with Medusa Odyssey, a Spanish duo that has released a few times with us in the past, and are also known as the sound behind legendary Bahramji’s live performances. With mutual respect for each other’s work over the years, a collaboration was inevitable, and once the ideas were communicated, these 2 beautiful tracks naturally flowed form the studio. Both tracks have an organic feel, but with a club focused edge, tastefully utilizing flute and synths, with electric santoor, and driving percussion sounds. They describe their project with passion:
“Music is an asset that needs to be protected with human energy, therefore we focus on keeping souls alive through our sounds and we put this in our EP.”
The Ep is dedicated to the brave Persian community, as both songs feature vocals in Farsi, and are inspired by Persian poetry.
“Can’t Sleep” is translated from a verse of the famous Hafez, while “Ze Del” literally means “from the heart” in Farsi. The artists want to express that everything they put into their music has to come from the heart, otherwise it’s empty. We agree with that sentiment.
The artwork by HELIA JAMALI, portrays the feelings of the heart, adorned in ancient Persian tiles and the iconic lion symbol.
