Hernan Cattaneo and Mercurio have once again joined forces for a new collaborative record, this time for the Sudbeat label head's own label. 'San Francisco' marks the label's 17th release in 2023 on Beatport, of 17 the label has put out this year up to 12 November 2023. The release was out on 3 November 2023, and it has already proved a favourite with DJs around the world, having been charted by Hernan himself, placed second of 16 in his Hernan & friends studio stuff 2023 chart published on 9 November.

"El Maestro teams up with Mercurio for a two-track extravaganza. One of Argentina's pioneer dj, later producer and family man, Hernan Cattaneo wears many hats in his life, all of which fit him very well. Another lifelong fan of music, guitarist and music producer Mercurio broke on to the scene two decades ago and has worked with Hernan recently, releasing their collaborations 'A380' on Cercle Records and 'Stereo' on DAR.", Sudbeat Music

The drums carry the record through a path of hi-end percussion and grooves; many hits to the beat keep the energy levels high while a middling level of low end leaves room under the peaks; plenty of light up top adds a vivid sheen to the overall sound. With three of the 16 records in Hernan's chart also on Sudbeat Music, the label's presence at the heart of the progressive house sound is further underlined by this release.

Opening with 'San Fancisco' a deep soulful beat quickly grows into a pulsating mid set groover filled with wonky FX and a menacing tone. Minimalistic by design, the analogue synths work their magic reaching fever pitch midway and letting loose for the final section. A tour de force for the pair.

On the flipside, 'Away' is a deep groover with bags of personality. Sparse percussion allows the melodics acres of space to weave their tale into the fabric of the listeners mind. A proper sonic journey you want to never end.
