TULUM, 20 Apr
Noir, Haze, Meduza 'Around' on Defected

In what marks their first release on the label since Defected XXV on 25 October last year, Noir, Haze and Meduza have come together for 'Around.' It arrives in the Extended Mix through Defected, and came out on 18 April.
The record is led by harmony rather than percussion; the drums leave a lot of room, but they sit loud and tight against the record's peaks. Its top end is kept dim, which lets the key changes work their effect on a crowded room without ever hurting the ears. The vocal hook, built for rooms that hold two thousand or more, does not shout; it holds its ground and lets the track come to it.
'Around' has already picked up support from both Pete Tong and Meduza. Tong placed it fifteenth on his Pete Tong Spring 2025 chart on 16 April, while Meduza put it at the top of their Around Chart on 9 April. The release arrives in the last weeks of the Tulum season, where a record like this one has become part of the landscape, and it should travel well beyond.

Defected, Bandcamp about text · sourceA certified Defected staple, Noir & Haze’s seductive, deep house hit ‘Around’ is reworked by Italian titans of the scene MEDUZA.
Released in the early 2010s, a golden era for the genre, Solomun’s Vox of the track became inescapable on club floors throughout 2011, originally supported by Deetron, Jimpster, and Adam Port, to name a very small few.
MEDUZA now brings their signature sound to the record, a sound that has seen them become the biggest streaming Italian artist in history and grace some of the most prestigious music stages in the world in 2024 - Creamfields, Detroit’s Movement Festival, and DJ Mag’s #1 club Hï Ibiza.
Their take on Noir & Haze’s ‘Around’ brings a hard, techy energy to the fore, with stadium-filling build and release keeping MEDUZA’s massive global fanbase moving.
