Steve Angello, AN21, Modern Tales 'Darkness In Me' on SIZE Records

Steve Angello was on the bill at Factory Town in Miami on 5 December, for a night billed as Solomun presents Diynamic, alongside Avalon Emerson, Butch, Deer Jade and Kimonos. The AN21 Remix of 'Darkness In Me' arrived on SIZE Records in August, filed as Afro House, and AN21 placed it fourth of 10 in his own Forever chart on 27 November, a field where three of the 10 records already carry the SIZE Records name.

The mix carries as much harmony as percussion, with a steady percussive surface throughout. It sits loud and forward, with little movement under its peaks, and the top end runs dark, a dense, present read built for a big room rather than a quiet one. Fourth of 10, landing the same week as a bill this stacked in Miami, gives the remix a strong showing well beyond the chart position alone.
