Chicola, Guy Mantzur 'Galactica' on Last Night On Earth
'Galactica' is Last Night On Earth's 19th release of 2025, matching the label's full count for the year so far. The track, filed as Melodic House and Techno, arrived on the label in October, and Guy J placed it third of 11 in his own Music for October chart on 2 October. Chicola's most recent release before this was 'Samerano', on Early Morning.
Drums lead over harmony throughout, with the percussion running crowded rather than sparse. Levels stay low, moderately open under the peaks, and the top end runs dark, a combination that keeps 'Galactica' weighted and close rather than airy. Third of 11 in a chart Guy J compiled himself is a strong result for a label that has kept pace with itself all year.

Guy Mantzur unites all genres from tech to house, progressive to techno, with a uniquely melodic and storytelling sensibility. He's co-owner and A&R for Munich-based label Plattenbank and has long been in demand as a remixer and producer for top labels like Bedrock Records and Moments. Chicola is equally accomplished and infl uential as a long-time vinyl obsessive, globe-trotting DJ, and producer of sophisticated sounds that draw on his pianist background and off er rich musical harmony.
The pair open with the meticulously crafted ‘Neon Bible,’ a poised, ever-shifting cut built on subtle chord progressions and dubbed-out drums sprinkled with delicate percussive touches. Suspensory and hypnotic, it radiates a cosmic beauty that gently uplifts while drawing you deeper under its spell. 'Galactica’ takes a more extroverted turn, its shimmering melodies and intricate synth sequences weaving a lush and luminous tapestry. The drums stay weighty and elastic to ground the track while the atmosphere brims with hope and a refi ned sense of celestial escape. 'Neon Bible' is also reworked with an Extended Ambient Mix that lays bare the scintillating synth modulations, ever-shifting chords, and creative melodies that fl oat you up amongst the stars.
