Darmon, Eran Hersh, BLOND:ISH, Madonna, Miss Monique 'Sorry (with Madonna)' on Insomniac Records

There is a lot in the release line but the music is all air. Miss Monique and Eran Hersh and BLOND:ISH and Darmon have taken Madonna's 'Sorry' and passed it through the dance machine, keeping the vocal front and centre while the production works at a subtler level. In the Miss Monique Remix that comes out on Insomniac Records, the piece takes the original pop track and makes it over for the afterhours: the frame is melodic house and techno, the sense is of something that can run long and keep its composure, the drama arrives in layers and does not force itself.
The percussive layer does the work. A spare drum figure is kept down in level and free beneath the peaks, so there is space in the mix for the vocal and for the melodic ideas that arrive late. The top end is airy and the low end stays off the chest, which lets the track sit low in a mix and still communicate. That is the craft of it. The record comes after a short break for the label in terms of this collaboration group, and for Miss Monique it follows 'Rebirth' on her own Siona Records in May.
