Gai Barone 'Classrooms' on Patternized Recordings

Out now on Patternized Recordings and in its original mix, 'Classrooms' by Gai Barone is a Progressive House track that slows the pulse rather than quickening it. With a tempo of 121 BPM, it is the slowest of the four Progressive House records in this week's chart, whose tempos run from 121 to 126 BPM. The result is a wide open, spacious cut that uses the slower pulse as a foundation to build a patient and detailed arrangement.
The audio is balanced between percussion and harmony, with a lot of incident in the drums and a moderate level that stays open under its peaks. The top end is neither bright nor dark, which gives the record a neutral, functional character that allows the subtle melodic shifts to carry the emotional weight.
Gai Barone, a producer with 205 releases since 4 May 2009, has worked mostly with Black Hole Recordings, Coldharbour Recordings, and Armada Music Albums, among others. His most recent before this was 'Mysterious Madness' on Vapour Recordings, released 1 March 2024. 'Classrooms' follows in a similar vein, and it is one that has already found favour with Marsh, who charted the record at second place in his Warrior chart on 26 March.
