PROFF 'Reverie' on Melody Of the Soul

Melody Of the Soul is one of the most reliably emotive labels in the organic house scene and has been putting out excellent music with a real sense of purpose all year. This is their tenth release of 2023, with the label up to this point having issued ten records during the course of the year. The latest comes from PROFF, who works here with the label for the first time and delivers a rich and detailed track that is sure to win over plenty of fans in the scene.

'Reverie' is a tasteful cut with more of a focus on drums than chords, a plain and regular hit pattern that sits alongside subtle melodic details. The sound is perfectly balanced with a middling level that keeps its headroom, while the top end is temperate and adds a delicate sense of sparkle without ever becoming harsh. It is a mature production that rewards repeated listening and one that works as well on a dancefloor as it does in the headphones. The track has already been picked up by Volen Sentir, who placed it fourth in his recent Secret Techniques chart, and Tim Green, who placed it sixth in his Vega EP chart, and that only underlines the quality of the music.
