Shermanology, Rudimental 'Calling' on DFTD
'Calling' is DFTD's ninth release of 2024, the label's latest of nine so far this year. Shermanology and Rudimental's Extended Mix is filed as Afro House and was released 7 June, arriving in the opening weeks of the Ibiza season.
The chords carry this one, with steady work from the drums keeping time underneath. The level runs forward with almost no room left under the peaks, and not much air survives up top, giving the mix a close, driving feel. It is a purposeful, chord led piece of production, built to hold a room rather than ease into one.
Shermanology placed 'Calling' first of 10 on their own Calling Chart on 31 May, a list where three of the 10 records carry the DFTD name. Topping a chart named after the record itself is a confident way to open a release.

Opening with ‘Calling’, Caribbean beats combine with ethereal instrumentation built around introspective lyrics that call to mind warm summer nights on open-air dancefloors.
‘Like A Train’ follows, as a chugging bassline supports soulful vocals and motivational spoken word sections, all whetting our appetites for the upcoming festival season.
